XGuard Full features description:

It is a supervisory power system that monitors all the possible failure situations of your BEC, Battery or any other powering system including gasser generators and prevents those possible problems from frying or damaging your electronics.

It warns you via Telemetry to your radio and it has a self-rechargeable power backup system that allows you to land safely even if your BEC fails and starts sending 50V as it happened recently a couple of times with top quality ESCs and one of the very main reasons why it was developed and it’s the only product that can do that kind of protection.

It works for both BEC and for battery-powered systems. The battery mode kicks in if a cell fails in the air and also monitors for cell unbalance and warns you via telemetry if they go above a safety limit or if it shows while you’re plugin in your battery for the next flight.

It has servo back-emf filtering, so your system won’t go haywire if the servos you’re using send back-emf to the FBL/Receiver.

It adds anti-static discharge protection to the power lines as well as the master and slave signals, so it absorbs static electricity from the power bus and protects the ESC’s signals from being damaged by a Static Electricity discharge.

It has full protection against mistakenly connecting power in reverse polarity such as when doing your own extensions or your own power connectors and there is an indicator LED that warns you of the condition.

It can trigger telemetry alarms for different types of telemetry systems. It can do Mikado and Spektrum out of the box and other brands such as Futaba, FrSky, Jeti and others with an inexpensive adapter cable.

It features a strong strobe light as well as a loud buzzer to warn you in case either your radio system has no telemetry or if you like those to be there too.

It has a failures logging system that records failures including those that are difficult to realize when you’re having during flight such as quick brownouts and when it does it kicks in additional power to prevent it from making your system reset. You can read the log with a Log-Display screen that can be connected to the remote board or the XGuard directly.

It doesn’t force you to place it in an accessible place to turn it on and off because it features an optional remote control board that displays the status with LEDs in real time and has buttons to remotely turn the system on and off and this remote board can daisy-chain the Log Display screen.

It has multiple protection modes working all the time with an operating system that is priority-based so that needs to attend to failure conditions take precedence over any other activity. With this system it can simultaneously do monitoring non-stop and other things like logging or attending button presses or sending telemetry to the radio or calculating voltage histories and behavior and adaptation of the algorithms all simultaneously. That is why if there is a failure in the middle of displaying log lines on the screen the failure will be captured and mitigated without interrupting the log display or missing a beat. The protection runs in the background at all times.

Once charged it keeps the charge all day, so the initial charge is not repeated or necessary. When not used after a day of flying it will discharge itself for long term storage.

It keeps the supercapacitors charged only up to the rated voltage not letting the supercapacitors degrade from being overcharged above 8.1V so they last for decades instead of having a limited lifetime due to overcharging.

Over-voltage: If for instance the BEC fails to full power pack battery as explained above then the system isolates the BEC from the aircraft’s electronics such as servos, receiver and FBL units and the supercapacitor-based backup kicks in and allows you to land your aircraft safely.

Under-voltage: In case the BEC voltage drops then a super-capacitor-based backup kicks in to allow you to land safely.

There are even more features such a ability to daisy-chain XGuards to increase the capacity for large gasser planes and such RC models that have dozens of servos.
